Jonathan Burke’s D.E.T.A.I.N.™ systems is a complete close-quarter-combat program designed for law enforcement officials, military personnel and their respective organizations.  The purpose of this program is to teach individuals and organizations on how to more effectively apprehend non-compliant aggressors during arrest procedures. The system covers techniques that are both on the feet and ground.  The courses address how to handle the intermediate positions of closing the distance, dealing with strikes, taking the non-compliant individual to the ground and more.  D.E.T.A.I.N.™ systems is a fully comprehensive program providing the individual and organization with valuable techniques resulting in maximum efficiency with minimum effort.  The leverage-based body mechanic techniques of the D.E.T.A.I.N.™ system are easy to follow, easy to apply, and easy to learn, reducing the risk of injury to both officers and suspects, and liability to the detaining individual and organization.

2-Day

The 2-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course is the beginner level system.  It is a course that is specifically created by a D.E.T.A.I.N.™ and organization representative to maximize the allotted time frame.  The 2-day course will focus on specific parts of the system that the hiring organization would like to have addressed.  There will be some basic level drills and role-play to test the students timing and reactionary skills under pressure using the new techniques.  Even though there are only 2-days of instruction, a wealth of information and highly effective techniques will be taught.  Participants will also learn key tips and tricks that will raise their levels of confidence and abilities to detain a resisting suspect utilizing their new skills. Upon completion of the 2-day course, participants will feel more confident and better prepared to handle the non-compliant aggressor. All participants will receive a D.E.T.A.I.N.™ certificate of completion.

The 2-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course runs six (6) hours a day with breaks for water, rest, and lunch.

4-Day

The 4-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course is the complete D.E.T.A.I.N.™ system.  During the four days, participants will learn, practice, and understand in detail all of the D.E.T.A.I.N.™ techniques, along with tips and tricks that will assist in proper application.  The 4-day course will also incorporate drills and role-play to add elements of real-life intensity to test both the effectiveness of the techniques, and the ability to use the techniques while reacting under stress.  Upon conclusion of the 4-day course, participants will feel significantly safer, more capable, more confident, and have a completely new outlook on apprehending non-compliant individuals.

All participants of the 4-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course will receive a D.E.T.A.I.N.™ certificate of completion, recognizing their achievement of completing all four days.

The 4-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course runs between 6-8 hours per day with breaks for water, rest, and lunch.

The 5-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course is the complete D.E.T.A.I.N.™ system.  During the five days, participants will receive instruction on all of the techniques within this system including stand-up, closing the distance, dealing with strikes, weapons retention, weapon takeaways, taking the non-compliant individual to the ground and ground defense.  Participants will learn the complete ins and outs of all of the techniques, additional tips and tricks, and will complete a comprehensive practical review at the end of the course.  This practical review consists of participants providing instruction to their peers and the D.E.T.A.I.N.™ instructor(s) to demonstrate that they have a proper understanding of a particular technique and its application.  The 5-day course will also incorporate drills and role-play to add elements of real-life intensity to test both the effectiveness of the techniques and the participant’s ability to react under stress using their new tools.

Included in the advanced level 5-day course is instruction on public speaking and the proper presentation of techniques.  It is critical that all certified D.E.T.A.I.N.™ instructor(s) are able to both execute techniques, and deliver instruction properly.  The 5-day course will dedicate an adequate amount of time to focus properly on teaching the D.E.T.A.I.N.™ techniques. Upon conclusion of the 5-day course, participants will feel significantly safer, more capable, more confident, and have a completely new outlook on apprehending non-compliant individuals.

All participants of the 5-day D.E.T.A.I.N.™ course will receive a D.E.T.A.I.N.™ instructor certificate, recognizing their achievement of completing all five days, and becoming a certified D.E.T.A.I.N.™ instructor.  The instructor certificate is valid for the period of six (6) months.  Prior to expiration, a two (2) day, twelve hour, re-certification course must be scheduled and attended for renewal.
